This year’s finalists represent innovative ideas, compassionate leadership, and a shared commitment to improving health care for patients and families across Saskatchewan. We’re excited to introduce the exceptional women and projects that will be featured at our September Voting Meeting.

Dr. Camelia Adams
Saskatchewan Trauma Clinic Initiative: Improving Care, Advancing Research, and Training the Next Generation
Dr. Camelia Adams is a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Saskatchewan, specializing in mood, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders. She earned her MD in Timisoara, Romania, an MSc in Neuroscience from Western Ontario, and completed residency in Saskatchewan and a fellowship at the University of Toronto. She supervises graduate trainees, has secured federal, provincial, and local funding, and has authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications.

Dr. Elizabeth Miazga
MyEndo: Advancing App-Based Care for People Affected by Endometriosis and Chronic Pelvic Pain
Dr. Elizabeth Miazga is a Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgeon and Assistant Professor at the University of Saskatchewan. She completed medical school, residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology and her fellowship at the University of Toronto. She also completed a Master of Laws in Health Law from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University. She practiced medicine in Ontario before returning to her hometown of Saskatoon to continue the work she loves.

Dr. Erika Penz
Co-Designing a Women’s Peer Navigation and Trust Pathway at RUH
Erika Penz is Associate Professor, clinician researcher and Division Head of Respirology and Sleep Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. Her research is broadly focused on understanding patient-reported/experienced and health system outcomes. She is part of a women-led “Hope Through Strength” research team focused on understanding the broad health impacts of Sanctum 1.5, Canada’s first pre- and post-natal transitional care home serving women living in complex life circumstances.
