Position Overview:
The Chief Development Officer (CDO) leads the Foundation’s fundraising and donor engagement efforts. This position plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing a comprehensive development strategy to support the Foundation’s fundraising priorities. The CDO cultivates relationships with major donors, oversees fundraising campaigns, and inspires a culture of philanthropy within the organization.
The CDO will utilize their strong leadership and team building skills to lead a high performing team in building relationships with donors and achieving the Organization’s fundraising metrics. The CDO will possess strong organizational and relationship-building skills and have excellent communication and public speaking skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops and implements a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including major gifts, planned giving, corporate partnerships, and annual giving.
- Leads and mentors a high-performing development team, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
- Cultivates and stewards relationships with individual donors, foundations, corporations, and community stakeholders.
- Manages a portfolio of major gift donors and strategically cultivate relationships within the portfolio to solicit and secure major gifts of $10,000+.
- Participates on the senior leadership team and contributes to the development and implementation of the organization’s objectives.
- Supports and works with the CEO to develop and present to the Board of Directors the quarterly fundraising results and other reports as required.
- Executes the annual development plan, ensuring financial goals are met and resources are allocated effectively.
- Leverages data-driven insights to track fundraising performance, optimizes strategies, and enhances donor engagement.
- Represents RUH Foundation at events, conferences, and networking opportunities to build community support and awareness.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience preferable in fundraising, nonprofit management, or related fields.
- University undergraduate degree or post-secondary education and equivalent experience.
- CFRE Designation would be an asset.
- Proven track record of securing major gifts and leading successful fundraising initiatives.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, with experience managing staff and volunteers.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and public speaking skills.
- Knowledge of donor database management, fundraising software, and industry best practices.
- Passion for healthcare philanthropy and a commitment to the mission and vision of the Foundation.
Reporting Structure:
This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the Foundation.

Salary Range: $87,750-$146,250
