This campaign is aimed at raising the necessary resources to build technological advanced operating rooms at the Royal University Hospital and provide our dedicated surgical teams with the surgical tools of the future. Our aim is to be at the forefront of surgical innovation and provide the best surgical care possible to our patients.” Dr. Ivar Mendez, Provincial Head of the Department of Surgery at the University of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Health Authority.

There are approximately 10,000 adult surgeries performed at RUH each year. These surgeries range from Neurology; Cardiac; Orthopedics; General Surgery; Dental; Spine; Urology; Gynacology and Gynaecologic Oncology; and Plastic Surgery.

Why is this surgical theatre transformation so important?

RUH was built in 1955 and for 65 years has supported patients and their families while providing clinical training and education of physicians in partnership with University of Saskatchewan’s College of Medicine.

This upgrade of the aging theatres will allow for a safer environment for surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, housekeeping, medical residents and most importantly patients. New technologies will allow for patients to receive the highest quality care ensuring the most up-to-date medical procedures can be conducted right here at home.

You never know who. You never know when. But, with your help, Saskatchewan’s busiest hospital will always be ready.

Your gift will help keep Royal University Hospital ready to save lives. Maybe even yours.
