Pancreatic cancer is one of the most challenging cancers to treat, and the Whipple procedure is one of the most complex surgeries performed in the abdomen. It requires removing part of the pancreas, bile duct, small intestine, and part of the stomach—all while ensuring the digestive system is reconstructed to function properly. Because of its complexity, regional hospitals do not offer this procedure, making RUH a provincial leader in pancreatic cancer care.
