Royal University Hospital Radiothon Raises $241,740 to help Transform Surgical Care!

January 27, 2023

Residents from across the province generously donated $241,740 to this year’s RUH Radiothon in support of Royal University Hospital Foundation’s Mission Possible: Operation New O.R. campaign. Proceeds will be used to fund much-needed new state-of-the-art equipment and other enhancements to RUH’s current operating rooms and related areas that were built in 1978. Suer & Pollon Mechanical graciously matched donations in the amount of $100,000.

The two-day Radiothon, broadcast on 600 CJWW, 92.9 The BULL, and 98COOL radio stations, shared inspirational stories from more than 40 grateful patients, surgical team members, donors and supporters of RUH. Each story and person helped to emphasize the need for an improved surgical experience.

“It’s like there’s a little invisible hand of a donor on your shoulder,” Dr. Laura Hopkins remarked about how donor support helped purchase new SPY PHI equipment for use in colorectal and gynecological cancer surgery at RUH.

Many of the province’s most complex and specialized, planned and unanticipated, surgeries involving the heart, brain, spine, gynecologic, and cancers, to name a few, are done at RUH.

Donations will ensure patients from across the province continue having access to exceptional surgical care in Saskatchewan at Royal University Hospital well into the future – meaning less time in surgery, quicker recovery time, and more time to spend with family and friends.

RUH Foundation thanks its Radiothon sponsors: Matching Sponsor, Suer and Pollon Mechanical; Graham, Broadcast Sponsor; Viterra, Phone Bank Power Sponsor; as well as Radiothon Sponsor: EECOL Electric; and Event Partners: Canadian Tire (Preston Crossing location), Encore Audio Visual, PickNic’s Catering, and Seventy Seven Signs Ltd. Thank you also to media partners 600 CJWW, 92.9 The BULL and 98COOL.
