Royal University Hospital Foundation, in partnership with its donors, raised $13.3 million during 2023-24 to advance patient care innovation and excellence at Royal University Hospital (RUH).
“We are extremely grateful to our donors who play a pivotal role in ensuring RUH continues to deliver on its founders’ vision that the hospital be a major clinical, teaching, and research facility serving all of Saskatchewan, providing life-saving care to the most sick and injured patients in our province,” says RUH Foundation CEO Jennifer Molloy.
“Thanks to the support from our donors, we continue to enhance the patient experience and improve patient outcomes for so many who require the specialized and complex life-saving care available at RUH,” Molloy said during the non-profit organization’s annual meeting on June 11.
RUH Foundation granted $7.82 million to the province’s largest hospital, funds used to support priority needs like:
- New state-of-the-art technology and equipment for the Cardiac Catheterization Lab ($2.5 million), a dual modality SPECT-CT medical imaging scanner ($2.3 million), and high-tech upgrades to the hospital’s two busiest X-ray suites ($1 million); and
- Other capital and donor designated grants ($510,000), Research Chairs ($350,000), Women Leading Philanthropy research grants ($200,000), and physician Fellowship Training Grants ($180,000).
In addition, RUH Foundation set aside $3.18 million for future capital grants.
RUH Foundation, since its inception 41 years ago, has raised $183 million to support patient care innovation, purchase new equipment, and fund specialized medical training and ground-breaking research at RUH.
During its meeting, RUH Foundation volunteer board of directors elected Erin Eccleston, Partner, MLT Aikins LLP, as chair for a two-year term, replacing Joe Vidal who becomes past chair. It also approved the nomination of Shannon Patterson, Associate Vice President HR Connect with Federated Co-operatives Limited to the board, replacing retiring board member Kaylynn Schroeder.
