Guests of the Royal University Hospital Foundation’s “Royal Moonlight Masquerade Ball” were taken back to a 15th century Venice setting on October 14, 2017, at the 19th annual gala event at the Delta Bessborough.
The event raised $82,000 (net) for The GREATE.R Campaign, which is raising $20 million by 2018 in support of emergency, critical care and trauma priorities at Royal University Hospital.
Proceeds from The Royal Moonlight Masquerade Ball will support RUH Foundation’s $20 million GREATE.R. Campaign and the hospital’s new Adult Emergency Department currently under construction with completion in late 2019. An estimated 60,000 patients this year will receive emergency care at RUH, the province’s busiest Emergency Department. That number continues to grow, putting increasing pressure on the current E.R. that was last redeveloped 40 years ago and designed to handle about 22,000 patients. The new Adult E.R. will be 2½ times larger in floor size than the current E.R., exam rooms will have solid walls and glass doors for maximum privacy, and all emergency diagnostic scans, x-rays and ultrasounds will be done right in the E.R.
Support from the following Royal Moonlight Masquerade Ball sponsors was nothing short of magical:
