Here’s the skinny: Guests of the Royal University Hospital Foundation’s “Royal Studio 54 Ball” presented by Nutrien were taken to the max at a groovy disco era night club Saturday evening at the 20th anniversary gala event at the Delta Bessborough.
This sold out, far out event raised $255,000 (net) from sponsors, ticket purchasers and donors for a new Trauma Observation Unit at Royal University Hospital. Every dollar raised was matched up to $100,000 by Wayne Pochynuk and the Pochynuk Family of Clark Roofing!
With 60,000 emergency patients each year, Royal University Hospital is Saskatchewan’s acute care and trauma centre. It is the busiest in the province. Trauma care doesn’t stop in RUH’s Emergency Department though. It follows a trauma patient through all the stages of their stay.
Proceeds from The Royal Studio 54 Ball will equip the Trauma Observation Unit with state-of-the-art equipment.
“A dedicated Trauma Observation Unit will provide enhanced care and vital monitoring for close to 400 patients a year, who will benefit from an extended observation period before transitioning to an in-patient unit,” explained Dr. Niroshan Sothilingam, RUH’s Medical Director of the Trauma Program.
Support from the following sponsors was off-the-hook:
