“Food is maybe the only universal thing that really has the power to bring everyone together.” ~Guy Fieri, Restauranteur and Television Host.

For 21 years, the Royal University Hospital Foundation (RUHF) and the Barlas family with Manos Restaurant and Lounge have been bringing people together for an impressive evening of authentic Greek cuisine and entertainment in support of patient care at Royal University Hospital (RUH).

This year was no exception. Thanks to the generosity of over 200 guests, RUHF’s 36th Annual Greek Gourmet Feast presented by Nutrien raised $65,000 to support the $1.2 million dedicated Epilepsy Monitoring Unit for patients living with epilepsy. Over the past three decades, this legendary event has raised $1,168,000 in support of innovative patient care, education and research at RUH.

“Our community is so important and we gain so much by giving back, I feel it is a responsibility in whatever capacity you are able,” says Manolis Barlas. “As we get older we realize that we have two hands, one for helping ourselves, the other for helping others.”

RUHF would like to thank the guests who attended the event, as well as the generous sponsors: Nutrien; Department of Medicine (Saskatchewan Health Authority and University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine); Ens Auto; Manos; Saskatchewan Blue Cross; S.O. Asher Consultants; Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLP; EY LLP; Daniels Wingerak Engineering; Cuelenaere LLP; Mister Print; Harden & Huyse Chocolates; Little Shop of Flowers; Bateman Jewellers; MNP LLP; Saskatoon Media Group (98Cool FM, CJWW); Rawlco Radio (News Talk 650 CKOM, C95, Rock 102); The StarPhoenix; CTV.
